Village DO be patient traveling.  Remember the long and varied journey to Tortuguero is part of the adventure and allure of this pure life paradise.  So be patient and enjoy the trip for the adventure that it is. DO bring mosquito repellent. DO bring sunscreen.  It is very expensive in the village. DO bring cash.  There is no cash machine in Tortuguero.  Supermarket Las Tortugas (sometimes called Super de las Chinas), will give cash back by debit card for an extra percentage fee.  DON’T leave valuables in overhead compartments on buses.  Overhead bins on buses are the prime target for theives. DON’T give in to pushy predatory guides.  There are plenty of guides and accomodations in Tortuguero.  Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.
